Red Red Wine Ala UB 40 Dalam Irama Reggae

Lagu milik Neil Diamond ini muncul pertama kali tahun 1967. Sesuai judulnya, Red Red Wine, lagu ini bercerita tentang red wine dan betapa minuman itu bisa membuat kita melupakan masalah.

UB40 merekam lagu ini pada pertengahan 80-an, sebagai cover version The Tony Tribe yang sudah muncul sebelumnya dalam versi reggae. Konon grup Inggris ini tidak tahu kalau lagu ini milik Neil Diamond. Dalam sebuah wawancara, lead singer UB40, Ali Campbell mengatakan kalau yang mereka tahu hanya bahwa lagu itu adalah lagu reggae. Pada songwriter memang tertulis N.Diamond. Namun mereka rupanya menduga itu nama siapa saja, penulis lagu Jamaica yang khas dengan reggaenya.

Melalui lagu ini, grup yang namanya merupakan akronim dari Unemployment Benefits form 40 ini berhasil masuk tangga lagu di Amerika maupun di UK. Red Red Wine mereka rilis bersama lagu lain di album Labour Of Love pada tahun 1983.
