Like A
Rolling Stone, Salah satu hitsnya Bob Dylan. Rilis tahun 1965 bersama album Highway 61 Revisited, lagu ini dianggap sebagai
salah satu lagu yang berpengaruh.

tidak ada kaitannya dengan grup musik The Rolling Stones. Tapi grup ini
membuat cover version-nya dalam album Stripped sebagai penghormatan pada Dylan.
Mereka musti menunggu 30 tahun untuk mengemasnya dalam versi mereka. Selain
Rolling Stones, sejumlah penyanyi dan grup musik lain juga pernah membawakan
lagu ini, seperti Johnny Thunders, The Four Seasons, The Rascals, Judy Collins,
Johnny Winter, Cher, Spirit, Michael Bolton, The Creation, John Mellencamp, The
Wailers, dan Green Day.
Bob Dylan sendiri konon mendapat ide dari
lagu Hank Williams bertajuk Lost Highway. Ada lirik di lagu ini
yang menyebut "I'm a rolling stone, I'm alone and lost." Dylan
menulis lagu ini pada Juni 1965, di antara kelelahannya melakukan tour ke
Inggris. Columbia Records sempat keberatan dengan lagu berdurasi 6 menit
tersebut. Namun setelah dirilis, lagu ini langsung melejit dan mencapai posisi
kedua di tangga lagu populer Amerika dan keempat di Inggris.
Di tengah kondisi sosial politik Amerika yang
marak dengan aksi masa, lagu ini terus berkibar. Apalagi 5 tahun kemudian Dylan
memasukkan lagu ini dalam versi yang berbeda untuk albumnya Self Portrait.

masa ke masa, dari generasi ke generasi. Seperti halnya lagu yang mengawali
kemunculan Dylan di dunia rekaman, Blowin' in the Wind dan The
Times They Are a-Changin' yang menjadi semacam lagu wajib yang banyak
didengungkan dalam perjuangan hak-hak sipil dan gerakan anti perang di Amerika
Serikat. Pada November 2004, Majalah Rolling Stone menobatkan Like A Rolling Stone sebagai lagu terhebat sepanjang masa. Pada 2008 Juri Pulitzer Prize mengganjarnya dengan penghargaan atas pengaruhnya dalam musik dan budaya populer Amerika dengan kekuatan puisinya yang tidak biasa. Satu windu berikutnya, ia mendapatkan Nobel Sastra, yang menjadikannya satu-satunya penyanyi yang menerima penghargaan tersebut.

Bob Dylan. Begitu disebut namanya orang akan
membayangkan sosok laki-laki nyentrik dengan keyboards atau gitar dan
harmonikanya dan membawakan lagu-lagu dengan lirik sarat makna. Dylan lahir
pada 24 Mei 1941 dengan nama Robert Allen Zimmerman. Sebagai musisi namanya
sangat berpengaruh pada dekade 60an. Lirik-lirik lagunya dikenal banyak
menyinggung topik politik, sosial, dan filsafat.
Sebagai penulis lagu dan musisi, Bob Dylan
sudah mengantongi banyak penghargaan seperti Grammy, Golden Globe, dan Academy
Awards. Namanya dicantumkan dalam The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Nashville
Songwriters Hall of Fame, dan Songwriters Hall of Fame. Pada 2008 Juri
