A View To A Kill, Soundtrack Bond Yang Berjaya

Lagu ini adalah salah satu yang mengisi film agen 007. Judulnya sama dengan film yang dibintangi Roger Moore dan Grace Jones itu: A View To A Kill. Lagu-lagu Bond memang populer, namun belum pernah menempati posisi pertama. Dan posisi itu baru dihuni oleh lagu yang dibawakan Duran Duran ini.

Konon, Duran Duran melakukan upaya cukup gigih untuk mendapatkan lagu tersebut. Bassist Duran Duran, John Taylor, yang punya peran melakukan pendekatan kepada produser Bond, Albert R 'Cubby' Broccoli, saat mereka menghadiri sebuah pesta. Lagu ini rilis bersama album Original Soundtrack Movie A View To A Kill tahun 1985. Pada tahun itu juga Duran Duran membawakan lagu ini untuk Live Aid. Lagu merekalah yang pertama ditampilkan oleh ABC dalam liputan mereka untuk event tersebut. Selain itu di AS MTV juga menyiarkan sebagian besar acara tersebut, sementara BBC juga menayangkannya di Inggris.
 

A View To A Kill menjadi single terakhir Duran Duran yang dirilis sebelum mereka mengambil cuti untuk project sampingan mereka. John dan Andy Taylor bergabung Robert Palmer untuk membentuk The Power Station, sementara Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes, dan Roger Taylor membentuk Arcadia. Setahun kemudian Le Bon, Rhodes dan John Taylor baru rekaman lagi sebagai Duran Duran.

Stand by Me, Lagu Lama Yang Tak Lekang Oleh Waktu

Stand by Me. Lagu yang cocok sebagai tema untuk saling menguatkan dalam relasi manusia. Penulisnya, Benjamin Earl Nelson. Penyanyi yang lebih kita kenal dengan nama Ben E King ini telah berpulang pada 30 April 2015.

Stand By Me ditulis oleh Ben E King bersama Jerry Leiber dan Mike Stollerwas, setelah ia meninggalkan The Drifters. Lagu ini terinspirasi lagu gereja bertajuk Lord Stand by Me yang ditulis oleh Charles Albert Tindley pada tahun 1905. Lord Stand by Me ini sangat populer di kalangan kristiani Amerika. Tahun 50an grup The Staple Singers membuat rekamannya. Versi inilah yang didengarkan Ben E King dan menginspirasinya untuk menulis Stand by Me.

Sejak rilis tahun 1960 dalam album Don't Play That, lagu ini direkam oleh banyak penyanyi lain, di antaranya personil The Beatles, John Lennon. Ini dia beberapa versi tand by Me yang berhasil masuk tangga lagu:

Lagu ini rilis ulang tahun 1986 karena dihadirkan dalam film bertajuk sama di tahun tersebut. Film yang dibintangi River Phoenix ini diangkat dari novel pendeknya Stephen King berjudul The Body. Sang sutradara, Rob Reiner, memiliki gagasan untuk menjuduli film itu Stand by Me karena film tersebut mengangkat kisah pertemanan tiga anak muda. Film ini menjadi box office dan sekaligus menempatkan Stand by Me ke telinga generasi baru.

Tahun ini Stand by Me-nya King dinobatkan ke dalam The National Recording Registry oleh Library of Congress sebagai 'culturally, historically, atau aesthetically significant'.
