Culture Club: Do You Really Want To Hurt Me?

Bersama, empat personil Culture Club membuat lagu ini. Boy George, sang vokalis, menulis liriknya. Do You Really Want To Hurt Me rilis dalam album pertama Culture Club, ‘Kissing To Be Clever’ pada tahun 1983. 

 

Awalnya lagu ini tak dirilis dalam bentuk single, karena Boy George merasa lagu ini punya nilai personal. Satu hal yang belakangan diakui George, lagu tersebut terinspirasi dari hubungannya dengan drummer Culture Club, Jon Moss. Mereka ternyata menjalin hubungan sekitar 6 tahun dan menyembunyikannya dari publik. Hal itu sering memunculkan perasaan terluka pada George.

Lagu ini pun langsung melejit setelah diputuskan untuk dirilis sebagai single. Dua single mereka sebelumnya gagal, dan Do You Really Want To Hurt Me adalah kesempatan terakhir mereka. Single ini menjadi nomor satu di 23 negara
